Ccr Political Wrap Breaks Maiden, Sets Top Mark In Far West Futurity Trials




Ccr Political wrap (#3) sets the fastest time over Mysterious Cartel in the Far West Futurity trials at Grants Pass Downs.

GRANTS PASS, OR–SEPTEMBER 29, 2024–Ccr Political Wrap, a daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess, got her first career win today while posting the fastest qualifying time for the Far West Futurity at Grants Pass Downs.


Today's ten fastest qualifiers from the four trial races will return to Grants Pass Downs on Sunday, October 13, to vie for the winner's share of a $30,000-added purse at a distance of 400 yards.


In a strong finish under jockey Jaime Lopez, Ccr Political Wrap defeated Mysterious Cartel by a half, covering 400 yards in 19.801 seconds, a 96-speed index. It was the first win in six starts for the Oregon-bred filly. 


Hector Magallanes trains the homebred for owner-breeders Cedar Creek Tree Farm Ranch and Racing. A finalist in the John Deere Emerald Downs Juvenile Challenge and The Firecracker Futurity Consolations, she has earned $10,363.


Multiple stakes-placed Mysterious Cartel held on for the second fastest clocking of 19.850 seconds, a 95-speed index. Jose Gomez trains the son of multiple stakes sire Five Bar Cartel for owner Luis Gonzalez. Jude and Ryan Robicheaux and Spanish Miss Quarter Horses bred the colt in Texas from the Valiant Hero mare Mysterious Night.

Mysterious Cartel started today off a second-place effort in the $150,500 Wyoming Bred Futurity in his last start on September 7 at Sweetwater Downs. He was also second in the Beehive Juvenile Stakes and has earned $40,035.
